Carl James Martin Jr., 75, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island.

He was born February 21, 1949 in Brainerd the son of Carl and Dorothy (Wheeler) Martin. Carl graduated from West Concord High School with the Class of 1967. Carl earned a certificate of Bible and Business at the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul attending from 1974 – 1976. He received a BA in Public Administration and a Minor in Business at the Upper Iowa University in 1981. He earned his M.A. in Theology/Ethics and History from WCBS in 1984.

After serving as a pastor at the Evangelical Free Church from 1981 to 1991 he became an electrician. Carl served as contract/arbitrator and conflict specialist for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 292 from 1992 until 2010 and worked as a union electrician until his retirement. Carl had a passion for performance automobiles and owned and operated Concord Motorsports from 2008 taking his mobile dyno trailer to many car events. In the end he donated the equipment to an automotive educational school because of his love for the sport.

Carl married Victoria Kay Anderson on July 11, 1981 at Wooddale Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and loved old cars. Carl could always be found visiting acquaintances, debating politics and religion and was a friend to many.

He is survived by son, Alexander Martin; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria.

A graveside memorial service was held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island Minnesota.
