Irene Marie Fredrickson

Irene Marie Fredrickson, 86, of Kenyon, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Elysian Senior Homes in Northfield.

She was born April 10, 1938, to Maynard and Ellen (Palmer) Thompson of Claremont. Irene graduated in 1955 and continued to beauty school. Irene and Duane were married on October 27, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. They were blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Debra. Later they moved from the Claremont area and started farming in rural Kenyon. She worked side by side with her husband until he retired in 1995. Irene worked several jobs including the Kenyon Sunset Home working nights for 10 years until 2000.

Irene enjoyed camping, baking, garage sales, and antique shops. In 2000 they took a RV and drove to Alaska for three months with her brother and his wife. Duane and Irene spent 58 years together until his passing in 2014.

She has had a long battle with Alzheimer’s and now has gone home to her heavenly father.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon (and Bill) Parsons of Kenyon, Debra Hoffman of Faribault; grandchildren, Jaymeson (and Donna) Parsons of Farmington, Joshua (and Rhonda) Parsons of Northfield, Jesse Hoffman of Faribault; and many great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Thompson, Lee (and Joyce) Thompson, Larry Thompson, Marvin (and Ruth) Thompson; sisters-in-law, Ruth Fredrickson, and Phyllis Maring.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane Fredrickson; parents, Maynard and Ellen; brothers-in-law, Allen (and Joan) Fredrickson, Richard (and Maxine) Fredrickson, Earl Fredrickson, Roger Maring; sister-in-law, Joan Thompson and Janet Thompson.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 11AM at Gol Lutheran Church with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joe Jorgensen officiated. Interment was in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery.
