Memories of Dodger Days

Posted

Well, it took more than a rainy day to prevent people in Dodge Center from celebrating Dodger Days this year! June 13th to the 16th was set for the activities for all ages. This was the 3rd year of celebrating Dodge Center, and there were plenty of things to experience. Starting at 8am on the 13th was a city wide garage sale. From 11 am to 2 pm there were activities like root beer floats, a big truck show, vintage bicycles, and a bouncy house.

June 14th the Fire Hall held a community meal, a silent auction for Triton Wrestling and a street dance /beer tent in the evening. The Poor Boy Ramblers were the providers of lively country music. Following the Ramblers, the American Legion had Thomas and the Shakes playing their brand of reggae music

Starting with morning yoga in the pavillion at North Park at 9 am on the 15th, and continuing through out the day with activities like Bingo, the locals turned out to have a good time. Food vendors, like HammerQ BBQ and Artic Blast snowcones, cotton candy, and even a few die-hard vendors turned out to play in the rain. The swimming pool was a hit, even through the rain drops, and it looked like everyone was having a great time. Fireworks topped off the night, compliments of McNeillus Steel.

On June 16th there was a fly in breakfast at the DC airport from 7 am to noon, and a church in the park was held by Praise Fellowship Church at 10 am on Sunday.

I would have to say, this was a big success in celebrating all the things Dodge Center has to offer! I am already looking forward to next year's celebration!
