Last week in the wake of the CHS announcement to close the Kasson facility, Larry and Kristy Mulert of Hope, Minnesota purchased and re-opened the feed store. The new name is KFS of Hope, and will offer the same products and more for the loyal patrons in the Kasson area.
Larry Mulert grew up on a beef farm near Hope, and his wife Kristy was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They met at the University of Minnesota. Larry and Kristy have been married for 39 years and have three children, all married, and six grandchildren. They own the family beef cow herd and have lived on their farm just west of Hope for the last thirty-one years.
Larry has worked in the livestock feed industry and other Ag Industry jobs for the last 35 years. They purchased the Krause Feeds & Supplies on July 1, 2018 from Richard Krause, who had owned it since 1954. They sell a complete line of livestock feeds for most species as well as animal health products, gas, diesel, snacks and drinks. They plan on continuing to operate the store in Kasson as it has been and evaluate new products and changes as time goes on.
