Triton FFA members continue to make a meaningful difference in our community. Recently, several members and their families shopped at Sunshine Foods for essential items for the Dodge County Food Shelf. Thanks to their efforts, the chapter donated 635 pounds –valued at $1400—to the Kasson Food Shelf, helping local families in need. We are proud to support our neighbors and strengthen our community through service.
Several Triton FFA members recently competed at Austin Riverland Community College. Gabby Geers and Nolan Hodgman participated in the Leadership Development Contest, while Hunter Hamm competed in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest and placed eighth.
Additionally, students in the Concurrent Food Science class toured Riverland and had a lab experience with Riverland Food Science Instructor Sue Gorman. Triton has partnered with Riverland since 2018 offering the Intro to Food Science class 1000 to Triton students in grades 10-12. Once completed, the students have a 4 credit class on a Riverland transcript that replaces the introductory Food Science course at UW River Falls, the U of M, SDSU, NDSU and many technical colleges in the midwest. Triton also offers the Intro to AFNR course (called locally Concurrent Plant Science) in which the students apply agronomic principles to raising hydroponically grown lettuce and herbs in the plant room at Triton. The crops are sold directly to the school food service and served to the rest of the school the next day.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Triton FFA! To commemorate this milestone, Our Annual Steak Feed will feature numerous door prizes, including an FFA jacket signed by every member and presented in a custom frame. Further details and updates will be announced as the event approaches, and we look forward to celebrating this occasion with the community. The annual steak feed dinner will be held on Saturday February 28, 2026 from 4 to 8 pm at Faith Community Church in West Concord. The inclement weather makeup date would be the following Saturday.
January’s events include an invitational CDE hosted by Rushford-Peterson, regional contests in fish and wildlife, small animals, floriculture and nursery landscape hosted by PEM, and regional proficiency along with state degree and region officer interviews hosted by Riverland. There will be a grade 7-9 Best Informed Greenhand contest as well.
