West Concord City Council Meeting - May 18, 2023

Meeting was held at the City of West Concords Bell Tower Center

PRESENT: Mayor Jeffrey McCool, Councilmember Collin Ripley, Councilmember Christina Peterson, Councilmember Crystal Nielsen, and Councilmember Jeff Burse.

ALSO PRESENT: Administrator Cory Hinz, City Clerk-Treasurer Lauren Highfill, City Maintenance Supervisor Keith Clammer and Peoples Services Dan Vrieze

PUBLIC COMMENT

Sandra Sullivan presented her concerns to the City Council requesting a city ordinance regarding parking on lots within city limits. Sandra also requested the Council consider ordinances for business storefronts and increased rental unit regulation.

9. Approve Resolution 2023-19: Accepting Donation for the City of West Concord Annual Community Clean-Up Day

MOTION: Motion to approve Consent Agenda

JUNE 24TH, 2023 “SCOUTING IN WEST CONCORD” UPDATE: JOHN ZELLER

John Zeller was present to discuss the upcoming ‘Scouting in West Concord’ event. John sought help from the city to obtain portable restrooms for the event. The Council Motioned to approve financial assistance (utilizing funds from the remainder of the Survival Days budget) to rent up to two portable restrooms for the event.

MOTION: Motion to utilize Survival Days Budget for the rental of two portable restrooms for the ‘Scouting in West Concord’ event.

Motion was made by Councilmember Crystal Nielsen, seconded by Councilmember Christiana Peterson.

Ayes: Mayor Jeffrey McCool, Councilmember Collin Ripley, Councilmember Christina Peterson, Councilmember Crystal Nielsen, and Councilmember Jeff Burse.

AUTHORIZATION OF THE LAMAE’S BRIGHT LIGHT 5K RACE ROUTE.

A motion was sought to approve the LaMae’s Bright Light 5k Race Route, scheduled for July 22nd, 2023, at 9:00 am. Registration and check-in begins at 8:00am. Residents should expect impacts on Main Street, Highway 24, 180th Ave, and crossing Highway 56.

MOTION: Motion to utilize Survival Days Budget to rent two portable restrooms for the ‘Scouting in West Concord’ event.

Motion was made by Councilmember Crystal Nielsen, seconded by Councilmember Christiana Peterson.

REPORT FROM CITY ADMINISTRATOR

The City Administrator presented the March rent for the West Concord Historical Society (in the amount of $2771.17) and the Municipal Liquor On & Off Sale Monthly Report

REPORT FROM WEST CONCORD PUBLIC WORKS

Keith Clammer was present to discuss Street Cleaning, scheduled to occur May 23rd and 24th.

REPORT FROM PEOPLE SERVICES

Dan Vrieze, from People’s Services, was present to discuss the City of West Concords 2022 Consumer Drinking Water Report. No violations were reported. A motion was made to Approve the Consumer Drinking Water Report and post the report by Affidavit in the Dodge County Independent no later than July 1st, 2023.

MOTION: Motion to approve the 2022 Consumer Drinking Water Report and post by Affidavit.
